This video was created by three talents from Microbial Health Ambassadors, inspired by the experiences and insights acquired during the design thinking workshop. It culminated in this promotional video for the mobile application developed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong – the “TRIP” app. This short narrative video documents an ordinary day of a father, highlighting the unspoken hardships behind caregivers of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

This video was produced to promote the mobile application, developed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, tailored for caregivers of ASD individuals. It also aimed to raise the public awareness towards ASD children and their caregivers and to urge our society to offer friendly and inclusive space for caregivers to alleviate their daily stress.

About this video

About "TRIP" App

Mindfulness has become a popular psychotherapy in recent years. Through mindfulness, caregivers can learn to tranquilly observe the present moment and accept the current situation, resulting in daily stress reduction.

"TRIP" is a mobile application designed and developed by the Department of Psychiatry of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It exclusively offers mindfulness training and serves as a learning platform for parents and caregivers, regarding caring for children with ASD. By advancing mindfulness techniques and providing knowledge on caring for children with ASD, the application aims to improve mental health, cultivate resilience and foster compassion among caregivers towards children with ASD. This, in turn, helps minimize the impact of negative emotions on these children.

This application is currently open only to participants of our research. Upon completion of the research, the application will be available to everyone on various platforms. Stay tuned for further updates.

If parents are interested in mindfulness training, they are welcome to download another application developed by the same research team, namely “SOW”.
